Summary of the Text The paragraph following the introduction should be an overview of the book's plot. Topics to Include in Your Report: When you write your report, try to cover as many of the following topics as you can: Setting: Describe the setting or settings of the book. Was it well written?

How does the story end? Some questions you might want to answer are: Did you like the story? Then write at least four to five paragraphs that clearly describe the book. If so, describe how and why this happens.

Would you read other books by this author? Body In this section you want to describe the main parts of a story: theme, plot, setting, and characters.

Would you like to be friends with this character? Sometimes you want to avoid telling the ending, or giving away the secrets of the story.

Three main parts of a book report

Some common points that may be covered in the personal reaction section include whether the reader would recommend the book to others or if they liked the book. Depending on the number of points the reader wishes to examine, the analysis section may last for several paragraphs. The overview of the book should not contain opinions, analysis of themes or any other inferred information. If so, describe how and why this happens. Does the character change, learn, or grow in the story? What is the main event or conflict? Did any of the characters do things that you think are wrong, noble, risky, etc? Each paragraph should cover one topic for example, you should have at least one paragraph that describes the main character.

As you lead to your final paragraph, consider some additional impressions and opinions: Was the ending satisfactory for fiction?
